Are you planning to go on a trip this vacation? Maybe to experience the jazz and heritage festival of New Orleans, Louisiana, or to go snipe hunting in Texas? Well, in this case, you need to book yourself a good hotel room. Before you go to look into booking websites there are certain things that you need to know about hotel rooms.
NOT EVERYTHING IS SAME AS IT SEEMS IN THE PHOTOS
Looking at the pictures is the first thing anyone would do before going to a hotel. There are no doubts that reality is different as it seems in the photos. Don’t believe everything you see online because sometimes the reality is often disappointing. If you are looking at the photos check out the room photos first as most of the hotels upload pictures of their services or the decorations and even their surroundings but that is not important. Also, some hotels (especially the one with small rooms) trick on you by taking pics from a fisheye camera hence making the room appearing to be large so you need to read about the proper measurements and understand the size of the room.
READOUT YOUR FINE PRINTS ATTENTIVELY:
So you finally found your dream hotel and you are very happy about it and now you’re packing your stuff to go there ok now wait let us stop you there! Have you read out the fine print? This is the one step that most hotels want you to skip. Read the terms and conditions of your hotel. Firstly you need to know if there are any extra taxes. Most of the hotels charge extra taxes and they will tell you this when you are leaving. Moreover, are you going to pay extra charges for your breakfast?
What about the cancellation policy? Will you pay an extra amount if you cancel and if so then what is the time limit of cancellation without any extra payment? Make sure you have information about all of these questions before you go.
- PRICES VARY WITH THE TYPE OF THE ROOM
Hotels offer you to choose either a standard room or a presidential suit according to your budget. When booking check the prices of the room which vary with the different sizes and even the type of view it has. Rooms with an expansive view of the seaside or pool cost more than others.
- PUT YOUR PHONE AND KEY CARD SEPARATELY:
Don’t put your phone and keycard in the same place as the phone can damage your keycard. It is obvious that if your mobile phone is rubbed against your card it can demagnetize the card. Later on, you will have to rush to the reception to provide you another card which is going to be a tiring process.
- CHECK YOUR HOTEL HYGIENE:
It is absolutely not important that the room you are going to stay in is going to completely clean. It doesn’t matter how expensive the hotel is, it can still be extremely dirty. If you will carefully, you may find some of the objects in your room covered with dust. Not only this sometimes maids forget to clean up the room thoroughly before a new customer arrives hence there are chances of finding belongings of somebody else in your and yes it happens!
- REMOTE CONTROLS ARE THE DIRTIEST THING IN YOUR ROOM:
One more thing you need to know is that always wash your hands after using remotes of your room. We know it’s creepy but the truth is that you will find the dirtiest thing right at your bedside. In 2012 researchers at Ontario’s Guelph University checked the surfaces of 54 hotels; their research showed that the TV remote had more bacteria than anything else in the room. On a side note, you should distance yourself from television. You can watch all your shows back home so how about you enjoy your vacations and enjoy some quality time outside?!
- MAKE SURE YOUR THINGS ARE SAFE
Before you choose a room you need to be sure that the safe is working. If you are a constant traveler then know this one thing about the safe that they are inconsistent one moment they will be working effectively and the next moment they are not! In this way, your safety is compromised and there are many chances of you being robbed which is a very scary thing to happen and is enough to ruin your trip. So after entering the first thing you need to do is check if your safe is working well.
Staying in hotels can either be very exciting or it is going to be a very stressful experience for you but all of this depends on certain circumstances. It is perhaps the most important decision that you will make while traveling. You don’t want to ruin your vacations neither do you want your business trip to become a headache for you by choosing a bad hotel. So do take some time and examine the place you will be staying in.
